Final Answer?? Yes. Why I Left Active Rain…

February 21, 2009 · 6 Comments

I know, I know…said that, did that before.  This time I mean it.

Active Rain is not the site it used to be.  They wined and dined us, gathered our content, got us hooked and addicted..then…….

Don’t get me wrong. AR is a great place, but just not how it used to be.  It’s not even about the money.  It’s aboutActive Rain using the people who made Active Rain what it became..the most dynamic social networking business site on the web.

They used our content, got us Google juice and then started charging for that honor.  They know that people are visual by nature and now they put the commenter’s avatar on the comments along with bling..the more you spend with AR the more bling you have on your photo.  Guess whose posts will get the most features?? Yep..the ones who pay the most into the Rain.

I emailed Bob Stewart this morning and had him delete my accounts totally. Bob’s a nice guy, but honestly…one of   reasons I’m leaving the Rain is because of all the butt-kissing posts that get featured. Write something sappy about Active Rain or the AR “gods” (that phrase makes me cringe) and you’ve got that pretty little gold star.

It’s not about the Real Estate business anymore…it’s about Active Rain.

I loved my time on Active Rain because of all the awesome people I met…real people, real friends that I adore. But, I can visit with them on Twitter and Facebook or even call them on the phone…don’t need the Rain.

Looking For Someone…

February 14, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I am looking for one of my very best friends that I ever had. My maiden name was Linda Marshall and I grew up in Maryville, TN, went to Everett High School.  My best friend from the 1st grade on, and even after highschool, was Janice Darlene Sullivan.

The last time I saw Janice she was living in Lithonia, GA.  My daughter told me that she had gotten married and I don’t know her married name.

If anyone sees this and knows Janice, please have her contact me.  We had a falling out almost 30 years ago and I want her to know that I’m sorry and that I love her and miss her.

Thanks.

You’d Think They Could Take a Hint

February 1, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I went to the Tarrant County Car Show this afternoon to dream. I didn’t know that was ALL I’d be able to do while looking at all the new shiny cars!

You would think with the car industry in bad shape they would somehow give the consumer a break. After all…is it not cars they’re trying to sell?

Most of the cars and trucks they had at the show were the gas guzzlers. I only saw about 3-4 hybrids and wasn’t too impressed with the mileage they had to offer.  Can we not do better than this?

The prices were outrageous!  The “must have” vehicle here in Texas is the pickup truck. I’m surprised at how many there are on the road at the prices I saw.  The average price for the trucks I saw was around 40K with a very pretty one going for over 50K!!!  No wonder people are having a hard time making their mortgage payments!

I know the auto workers want and need to keep their jobs. Heaven help us all if they fail…but why not give us a good product without busting the bank???  It can be done. I’m sure of it!

Sleeping With the Enemy?

January 27, 2009 · 2 Comments

I know why I didn’t vote for President Obama, but now I’m more sure than ever.  Is it any wonder that his first interview was to an Arab newspaper, or that the first call he made as President was to the leader of Hamas???

I’ve been wondering if the people who voted for him really understood who and what they were electing?  The last time I checked it was Arab Muslims who brought down our twin towers on 9/11.

The Muslim world wants to bring down Israel and “wipe it off the face of the map” says the Iranian president. I, for one, will stand with Israel and it’s right to exist.   Israel is the “apple of God’s eye” and I will never go against that. One only has to read the Bible and look at history to see that God will always defend and restore Israel.
